Method #8: Flowers and Paint and Crayons, Oh My!

So for a more relaxing and creative art this time, first a mini-science lesson.
Wax and water do not mix. Wax repels water. So wax crayon and water color paints repel each other.
This creates great art. First get all the supplies:

Then draw your design with crayon.
Fill in with paint.
Repeat until page is filled.
I drew flowers because I find them quite interesting. You have a species of flower and then subspecies of them and then different heights and colors of the subspecies. Its quite complex. I love to draw flowers because It allows my brain to just think. Explore my subconscience and think. It has a relaxing thing about it, but feel free to draw whatever you like.

Method #7: NCIS the TV Show

So Bones and NCIS are similar in ways, but NCIS is definitely worth watching. My second favorite show follows the life of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a special agent team captain at NCIS, and his team Ziva David (former Mossad Liaison Officer), Tony DiNozzo (Mr. Random), and Tim McGee (MIT graduate). Leroy Jethro Gibbs a clean shaved, Marine, father and husband has many secrets, kept to himself makes him come across to most all cold-hearted. It's not until you learn more about him do you realize his cold-heart level comes from all the loss and hurt he has gone through in his life time, but underneath he is a compassionate, caring, and loving person. Gibbs's "family" is his team of 3 and several other workers from NCIS.

My favorite character in the show is Ziva David (Zee-vah Dah-veed). Ziva comes from another region of the world, raised by a father with lots of love but works in a very interesting and controversial position as the leader of Mossad. Ziva used to be a Mosaad agent and has had many gruel, life-threatening fights and experiences. There are several events that have hit her the hardest and those are the ones where one of her loves ones died. I don't think people always realize what they have, until they no longer have it. I think Ziva understands this and remains strong through it all. She is kind-hearted and caring, but can also become stone-faced and accomplish the most moral and ethical breaking tasks possible to be accomplished by human kind.

Overall this shows rocks and shall be watched by all. Have fun watching it on CBS on Tuesdays at 7p.m. CST.

P.S. It has a spin-off called NCIS: LA following at 8 p.m., just in case you want to wait on that homework a little bit longer. ;)

Method #6: Jello Apples

DISCLAIMER: Do not judge the eating habits until you have tried it.

So I have been in Girl Scouts for over 10 years and the best snack we eat at camp is Jello Apples. My troop and I go to camp for older girls in the fall every year, and we have a "girls weekend". In order to eat at camp we have to bring all of our food so an easy snack is an apple but adding the Jello in just makes it 10 times better.

The Recipe:
1. Get apples, a cutting board, bowls, and jello powder mix.
2. Cut the apple into slices, and pour the jello mixes (dry) into bowls.
3. Dip the apples eat and enjoy.

My personal favorite flavor is Strawberry as it compliments the apple well, however other various flavors of Jello are great too such as Island Pineapple or Lime. If you really wanted to be crazy you could even mix flavors and have a crazy combination of flavored apples. Have fun experimenting with the different flavors. That's all for now as I have ended up super sick this weekend with some form of the flu-like symptoms. I hope they are gone by Monday.

Method #5: Pandora

♫If you answer yes to any of the following questions this website may be for you.♫
Do you like free music?
Do you wish to find other musicians similar to ones you already like to listen to?
Do you want to explore genres you have never listened to before?

If you answered yes to any of these, then Pandora is for you!
All you have to do is go to Pandora.com, type in the name of you favorite group, and hit enter. It will play music by the artist you entered and by other artists similar.

My favorite musical group is Boyce Avenue. They are a cover band, but also have several CDs with their own songs. When searched on Pandora it also plays songs from artists such as Parachute, John Mayer, Edwin McCain, and The Script. Listening to the other songs in Pandora is free AND is like opening your wings and flying through a magical land of music.

My top five music group recommendations are:
1. Boyce Avenue - cover band who redoes and drastically improves popular music
2. The Script - band with ah-mazing songs with heartfelt messages
3. Taylor Swift - total empowering for a girl, makes ya' feel better
4. Matt Nathanson - his voice is smooth and soft and causes a loss of words, just great.
5. Sara Bareilles - writes her own songs and has such a pure voice

Have fun and remember to open your mind to different artists, they might surprise you.

Method #4: Bookmarks

I was trying to come up with another thing I do to procrastinate and was struggling. Then it hit me, make bookmarks! I learned how to make this really cool marble-like design in daycare when I was little. To start things off you need food coloring, tag board (in fun colors), clear packaging tape, a stir stick, white shaving cream, lots of paper towels, a hole puncher, yarn, scissors, and a paper cutter. Follow the pictures to make your own:

Materials:

1. Take a paper bowl and spray shaving cream into the bowl until about 1 inch deep all around.
2. Add drops of food coloring as desired (no more than 12 drops is neccessary).
3. Take stir stick and spiral the color to semi-mix it in.

4. Take piece of tag board or cardstock and press into the shaving cream, repeat until all is covered.

5. Place onto paper towl and let sit about 10 seconds, wipe off all the shaving cream.

6. Let dry and then cut to the wanted size. I suggest 2.5" by 7".

7. Cover with clear packaging table to make waterproof, and then punch a hole in the top center.
8. Tie ribbon throught the whole to decorate.
9. Enjoy!
I am currently reading The Help for my school literary group. It's great so far (only 9 chapters in), and brings light to things I've never even heard of growing up in a different region of the country. Have fun making your bookmark(s).

Method #3: Bones the TV Show

I watch very little TV or play very little video games due to my crazy packed schedule filled with school, clubs, and work; however, there are several TV Shows I make the time to watch every week. The number one show I watch is Bones. Bones is following the crime investigations of Jeffersonian (like the Smithsonian) Forensic Scientist Temperance Brennan and her partner FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth. The two work together along with their team to solve the mystery of murders and other investigations by looking at the bones of the victims, henceforth, the name of the show is Bones.

Dr. Temperance Brennan (right in picture), raised in foster care when her parents abandoned her at a young age, had a very unique personality. Most likely as a result of her childhood Brennan, struggles with the understanding of emotions and compassion for others. She lives a very objective and planned out life. She is one of the most caring fictional characters I have ever seen, but don't cross her as she will insult you in ways you won't even comprehend. Brennan worked hard in school and is a world-renowned forensic scientist. She is the lead forensic scientist at the Jeffersonian, and runs a team filled with brilliant scientists Angela (her best friend), Hodgens (who specializes in bugs, insects, and chemicals), and has various lab assistant over the course of the show. She also works for a woman named Dr. Camille Saroyan. Dr. Brennan is closest to her partner Seeley Booth, called Booth for short.

Booth (left in picture) is a very attractive, young, semi-single father, who is a top-notch FBI agent assigned to work with Dr. Brennan or as he calls her, Bones, to solve murder cases at the agency. The two are quite the combination, with their sibling like battles, slight on-and-off romance, and father-daughter/mother-son relationship there is never a dull moment in the show. Bones is currently on FOX on Thursdays at 8p.m. CST, but don't watch it live until you have watched all the previous episodes, starting at Season One: Episode One all the way through!

Method #2: Random Food Making - Whether You're Hungry or Not

DISCLAIMER: I am not suggesting eating whenever, as it can become a habit - leading to obesity. Obesity can be a deadly disease, and can have many life altering affects.

Over the course of time, I will add a recipe as a procrastination method. This is because there are several steps in the time-consuming procrastination process. First, the choosing of the recipe. In this case I will provide it for you, but feel free to explore the web or a cookbook for your own recipe. Second, make the recipe. Third, allow the aroma to fill your house. Fourth, eat the food! Today's recipe is "Banana Boats"

1. Locate a banana, knife, and cutting board.

2. Cut the banana as shown in the picture, remove extra banana.

3. Stuff with mini-marshmallows and chocolate chips. I recommend three chocolate chips to two mini-marshmallows.

4. Place banana on microwave safe plate.

5. Place into microwave.
6. Microwave for 45 seconds.
7. Remove. CAUTION: May be hot.

8. Let cool.
9. Allow aroma to fill house.
10. Eat and enjoy!

Hope you enjoy the banana boats. Will post most methods soon! -K
